Claudio Baglioni (Rome, 16 May 1951) is one of the most successful Italian singer/songwriters of his time, with an estimated sales of over 60 million records during his 50 year career. Aged 13, Baglioni taught himself to play the guitar and entered talent competitions. From 1967 he started writing his own songs, and in 1970 released his first (self-titled) album. Success came in 1972 with his third album “Questo Piccolo Grande Amore”, a concept album of which the song with the same name became a major hit record, and in 1985 was even chosen as ‘song of the century’ in Italy.
In 1974 Claudio Baglioni met with Vangelis in Paris, and the two worked together on Baglioni’s fifth album “E Tu...” (released in June 1974). Originally Baglioni intended to create a musical based on the Odyssey-poem of the Greek writer Ulysses, but during the process Vangelis convinced Claudio to release the songs as a music album instead. Vangelis is not only credited for arranging all songs on the album, he also plays an impressive number of instruments!
The title song of the album was released as a 7” single, and quickly became a huge hit, reaching the top of the charts in Italy and holding the position for 12 weeks. Not surprisingly, Claudio Baglioni won first prize at the 1974 Festivalbar music contest with ‘E Tu...’! In France a second 7” single was released with ‘Quanta Strada Da Fare’ b/w ‘E Tu...’.
A number of songs on the “E Tu...” album were also recorded with Spanish lyrics, i.e. ‘Y Tu...’ and ‘Quiza Si Mi Piensas’ which were released on a 7” together in Spain, and the song ‘A Mi Modo’ (‘Al Modo Mio’) later appeared on a compilation CD.
In the 1970s Claudio Baglioni’s continued his career as a popular singer of Italian love songs, with successful album releases such as “Sabato Pomeriggio” (1975) and “E Tu Come Stai?” (1978). During the 1980s his fame rose to unprecedented level with his performances live on stage, during tours that attracted more than a million spectators. His album "La Vita E’ Adesso" (1985) is the best-selling record in Italy of all time...
In 2024 Claudio Baglioni announced his retirement in 2026, and is undertaking the farewell tour “Piano Di Volo Solo Tris” throughout 2025.

Recording studio
The music for this album was recorded in the Davout studio in Paris, France.
- The original Spanish and Argentinian LP’s, as well as the Italian CD re-issued in 2000 contain a different audio mix compared to the other releases. This alternate mix gives a more prominent position to Vangelis’ arrangement in the songs.
- A recording exists of a Portuguese version of the song 'E Tu...' in Vangelis' arrangement, named 'Vo Cê'. It does not seem to be related to a release, possibly the recording is from a TV appearance or live performance. If you have more information about this version please let me know!
