Stratis Eleftheriades (1897-1983) was a Greek writer and publisher who came to Paris in 1918 to study law. In 1933 he co-founded the art magazine “Minotaure”, and from 1937 to 1960 he published the legendary quarterly journal “Verve”.
In 1973 a special exposition dedicated to Stratis Eleftheriades (also known by the name Tériade) was organised at the Grand Palais in Paris from the 16th of May to the 3rd of September titled “Hommage à Tériade”. According to a press sheet, Frédéric Rossif made a short film titled "Verve" in 1973, possibly about this exposition. Unfortunately nothing much else is known about this production, other than that there is a list of works by Vangelis from his publisher which includes a reference to “Verve, Hommage à Tériade”. Given the fact in this period Frédéric Rossif often used Vangelis’ music in his films, it is likely that the film “Verve” contains music by Vangelis. Without a recording it is unfortunately not possible to verify whether this is original music.
Other art-themed documentaries by Frédéric Rossif that Vangelis provided a musical score for include Georges Mathieu Ou La Fureur d'Être (1971), Au Pays Des Visages (1972), Georges Braque Ou Le Temps Différent (1974), Pablo Picasso Peintre (1981) and Morandi (1989).
