LoveHurtsFrontIntroduction

Elaine Paige (born as Elaine Mary Bickerstaff in 1948) is a British actress and singer best known for her performances in musicals such as "Hair", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Grease", "Evita", "Cats", and "Chess"'. In 1985 she recorded the song 'I Know Him So Well' from the musical Chess, a duet with Barbara Dickson. The song, composed by the former ABBA-members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with lyrics by Tim Rice, quickly turned number 1 in the UK and to this day is still the best-selling duet by a female duo in the UK ever.

Apart from singing on stage, Elaine has released many solo-albums, one of which is "Love Hurts", released on the 4th of November 1985. The album includes 'All Things Considered', a song composed by Vangelis and lyrics by Tim Rice and Elaine Paige. In the liner notes Elaine wrote: 'All Things Considered is a brand new tune from the great Vangelis, to which Tim Rice added lyrics with a little help from me’. The album also happens to include the duet 'I Know Him So Well'. A year earlier Elaine had already recorded a vocal version of the main theme from 'Missing' on her album 'Cinema' (1984).

Elaine Paige was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2025 Birthday Honours for services to music and charity.
