“Odyssey - The Definitive Colllection” is one of the better compilation albums by Vangelis, as it includes several unique tracks that are not available elsewhere. Released on the 5th of October 2003, Odyssey features a selection of well-known themes from as early as 1973, until 2002, including classics such as “Opera Sauvage” (1979), “Chariots Of Fire” (1981), “Missing” (1982), “Blade Runner” (1982), “Antarctica” (1983) and “The Bounty” (1984). The main attraction is however two previously unreleased tracks: ‘Theme from Cavafy’, the opening music of the otherwise unreleased score of the film “Kavafis” (1996) by Yannis Smaragdis, and ‘Celtic Dawn’, a new and previously unreleased rythmic instrumental.

This compilation album was personally digitally remastered by Vangelis, and with subtle changes here and there the audio quality is unprecedented. In some countries alternate editions were issued where ‘Anthem’ (track 14) was replaced with ‘Alpha’. No singles were released off this album, but the album did receive some promotion through television ads in several countries.
